Poor Richard's Record

Our staff consists of approximately twelve undergraduate students: editors, writers, designers, and photographers. Because our staff is small in size, members will gain valuable exposure to working on the biggest publication on campus: from writing copy that will jog memories years from now, to designing layouts that spark imaginations, to capturing photos that solidify the meaning of the Penn experience. At the same time, Poor Richard's Record is dependent on the commitment and enthusiasm of its members. We are looking for dedicated students who want to be a part of documenting the dynamic and unforgettable Penn experience.

Poor Richard's Record Staff meets four times per semester. At these mandatory meetings, the staff will work together on designing the book, assigning tasks that are to be completed by the next meeting. Because we do not meet often, attendance at these meetings is absolutely mandatory.

Working on Poor Richard's Record is a job, and therefore staff members will be compensated monetarily for their work. Again, this is a job that includes a salary, and thus dedication and high-quality work are expected.

Writing Staff

Our writing staff consists of writers and a copy editor, whose main objective is to capture in words the stories that define the Penn community. Topics include features, academics, athletics, organizations, Greeks, and seniors. Writers will have tasks ranging from collecting stories from performing groups, to summarizing the basketball season, to writing the theme that binds together the entire book.

Photography Staff

Photographers are responsible for capturing moments on campus. While we have a photography company that takes our senior portraits and sports photos, we still need coverage of the huge variety of events that take place at Penn. If you are interested in building a portfolio and seeing your work published in full-color in an annual documentary, join our photography team.

Design Staff

Our design team consists of designers and a design editor, whose main objective is to present the book in a visionary and artistic style. Designers are responsible for creating the layouts using Adobe Indesign. Prior experience with design is absolutely necessary. Designers are required to work together with the entire staff in creating a rich and coherent theme that unifies the publication.
